CFD Retirees Meeting Coming Up!

The next meeting and dinner for the Charleston Fire Department Retirees' "Hooked Up" program will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Charleston Baptist Church off of Savage Road in West Ashley. All CFD Retirees and a guest are invited to attend. Please call Gerald at (843) 609-8300 to R.S.V.P. so that we can prepare with the caterer. We are looking forward to seeing all of our retirees there!

Chief's Carr's Retirement Party Cancelled for This Week.

The retirement party for Chief Carr scheduled for this Friday, March 2, has been cancelled due to Chief Carr's hospitalization. His physicians want him to rest and are not allowing visitors in to see him at this time. Please keep the Chief and his family is your thoughts and prayers.

Chief Carr Honored by CCDC Board!

Charleston Fire Department Chief Thomas Carr was honored last week by the Charleston County Consolidated Communications Board for his outstanding contributions to the establishment and implementation of the Countywide Communications Center that has enabled the majority of all emergency services in Charleston to be dispatched and coordinated from one facility. This facility is state-of-the-art and crucial to continued improvements in the delivery of fire, police, and EMS operations in our community. Hats off to Chief Carr and the entire board for their accomplishments in the development of this center!

CFD Wive's Club Meeting & Social Coming Up!

The CFD Wives' Club will hold their meeting and social this Saturday, February 18, beginning at 4:00 p.m., at the Salvation Army Conference Center on Ashley River Road, West of the Ashley. Any wife, girlfriend, or fiance' of an active CFD member is welcome to attend. The social will begin immediately after the meeting.

Chief Brunacini Coming to Charleston!

Chief Alan Brunacini will be bringing his Leadership Institute program to Charleston on April 26-29, 2012. Chief Brunacini is a world renowned speaker on Fire Service Leadership, Tactics and Strategy, Fireground Command, and a myriad of other subjects and brings his common sense approach to the our business to town for a great three day seminar. Southern Drag Racing to Hold 28th Annual Car Show!

The Southern Drag Racing Association will be holding their 28th Annual Car Show on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Texas Roadhouse on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. All proceeds will go to support "Camp Happy Days" so come on out! Our Team will be there with everything we have with wheels on it and we invite our firefighters to bring your cars, trucks and motorcycles out to join us! This is absolutely one of the best car shows of the year so don't miss it!

Sullivan's Island Fire & Rescue to Hold Annual Oyster Roast!

It that time of year again! Sullivan's Island Fire & Rescue will be holding their Annual Oyster Roast on Saturday, February 11th, beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day of the event. Hot dogs and fish stew will also be available for those that don't eat oysters. Be sure to bring your own oyster knife and join our friends for this great event!
