On Sunday, June 14, 2009, beginning at 9:00 a.m., the Charleston Firefighters' Local 61 will sponsor a 5K run at Palmetto Island County Park in Mount Pleasant. Proceeds from the run will be used to purchase equipment for the department. There will be a fire truck on display for all to enjoy along with the "Never Forget" Charleston 9 Tribute Race Car. Later in the day, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., the CFD Wives' Club will present the second annual Charleston 9 Commemorative Family Picnic at Brittlebank Park on the Ashley River in Charleston. There will be fun and food provided for all ages, including a jump castle, and snow cone and popcorn machines. There will also be music, along with fire trucks and the "Never Forget" Charleston 9 Tribute Race Car on display.
Any and all members of the Charleston Fire Department family, including active and retired members, are invited to attend.
Please bring your lawn chairs and plan to enjoy the afternoon with us.
