Engine 11 to Roll on November 15th!

The rededication ceremony for Engine 11 has been set for Sunday, November 15, 2009, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the Charleston Firefighter Support Team offices located at 2090 Executive Hall Road in Charleston.

The "Raising Engine 11" project has been a year long journey that has involved many individuals, businesses and organizations that came together to show their support for all of our firefighters. No public money was used in this restoration.

We hope that this fire engine will stand as an enduring example of the community support for our firefighters and our Team's commitment to "Memories of the Past - Visions for the Future".

Please make plans to join us for this very special ceremony in honor of all of our firefighters, "Past, Present and Future".

Interestingly enough I happen to just see this posting today (Nov 10th) noted that it was originally posted on Oct 23rd, which is my birthday!

I was a member of the Franklin Square, NY F.D. back in the 70's and at the time my company, Engine 1, had a 1965 Mack C95 1000 GPM engine. I am a former Lt of the company and was also the driver trainer for the rig.

I must say it appears you guys have done a magnificent job restoring Engine 11 and for such a worthy and honorable cause as well!

May it be used for years to come in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice made by the Charleston 9.

It has also very encouraging to read about the tremendous positive advances the C.F.D. has made since the tragedy. I believe that every firefighter in the C.F.D. can hold their head high and be very proud of that accomplishment!
